THE BLOCK is SHELTER Athletics’ official marathon training program — a 14-session group coaching experience led by Coach Jose from Track Night. Designed for full, half, and 10KM runners, each session builds structure, consistency, and community into your marathon prep. First session starts on October 29th to January 17th.
What’s Included
- 14 in-person coached sessions led by Coach Jose
- Tentative training dates are Oct 29; Nov 5, 12, 19, 22*, and 26; Dec 3, 10, 13*, 17, and 27*; and Jan 3*, 7, and 14 (*Saturday long training).

Meet Coach Jose
Jose discovered running in 2018 and transformed a casual bucket-list goal into a deep pursuit of progress and purpose. From a 5-hour marathoner to multiple Boston qualifiers, his journey has taken him from Hood to Coast Portland to The Speed Project to road races around the world.As a UESCA certified running coach, Jose brings experience coaching runners of all ages—from youth to adults—across diverse clubs and organizations. He believes in finding joy and sustainability in the process—because when you love the work, performance naturally follows.
